ABSTRACT
Introduction: José Martí and Fidel Castro represent paradigmatic figures of values and revolutionary intransigence for current generations. The legacy of José Martí's virtuous life and anti-imperialist, Latin Americanist, patriotic, and democratic thought contributed to Fidel Castro's moral, human, and revolutionary development.
Objective: To examine the influence of José Martí's ideas on Fidel Castro's political formation.
Methods: This research followed theoretical methods, including documentary analysis, systematization, and historical-logical analysis, which allowed for the comparison and acceptance of conceptions related to the influence of José Martí's ideas on Fidel Castro's political formation.
Development: Fidel Castro consolidated his revolutionary thought based on Martí's ideals, which served as the nourishing source for strengthening his convictions and driving the actions that brought profound social transformations to Cuba, for the benefit of all.
Conclusions: In Martí's ideals, Fidel Castro found the lifeblood that allowed him to consolidate his political thought. Therefore, it is currently necessary to revitalize the values of the founding fathers of the Cuban nation, where Martí represents the pinnacle and crystallization of the most advanced ideals of the 19th century, among which patriotism, Latin Americanism, anti-racism, altruism, and anti-imperialism stand out. On this profoundly ethical foundation, Fidel Castro waged his revolutionary struggle for the construction of Cuban socialist society.
