Implementation of virtuality in Law Schools due to COVID-19

Abstract

Introduction: The emergence of COVID-19 had as its first consequences quarantine, isolation and mandatory confinement, which generated a global crisis with repercussions in the economic, political, social and educational spheres. As a result, universities faced pedagogical and administrative hurdles mainly because they moved from 100% face-to-face education to mandatory virtual education.

Objective: To present the importance of virtual education to find solutions to educational and technological problems in the teaching-learning process in times of COVID-19.

Methods: Documentary analysis and analytical-synthetic methods were used to evaluate sources and data about virtual education in law schools.

Results: Social and economic gaps, internet access, and the use and availability of technological resources have been challenges that have had repercussions on universities and the entire education system; and they had represented new challenges to achieve inclusive, equitable and quality education in universities, and in the academic and professional training of students. 

Conclusions: The difficulties in adopting the virtual modality in education, together with the existing educational and pedagogical problems, have led education to a historical precedent, by hastily moving from face-to-face education to virtual education for the development of the teaching-learning process.
